Some of us here at the Boutique Volfe blog are Jewish and therefore weren't writing much these past few days, while we celebrated Yom Kippur.  It's the most serious day of the year for Jews, a day of fasting and prayer, but also the happiest day. Yeah, the minute the fast ends. Anyway, I was happy to get back to eating.  I committed my first three "sins" and had three mini red-velvet cupcakes with an inch of frosting on each.
While catching up on food, I was leafing through a copy of the Wall Street Journal Off Duty, and found The Adventurer Gentleman. I was inspired to put this post together, based on the looks of adventurer-heroes of old (think cold-weather explorer, mountain-climber, first airplanes flyer).
Although I believe Amelia Earhart was wearing that hat and those goggles for safety, she was most definitely admired as a feminine icon in her days, a woman who dared to dream in a man's world.
Taking the functional cold weather equipment and mixing the layers of textured fabrics with an airy feminine printed dress will make the perfect cold-weather ensemble.
